Black-capped Chickadee
  Poecile atricapillus

* One of the most beloved and familiar of birds.

* Feeds on insects, especially small caterpillars. Also includes spiders, snails, slugs, centipedes and some berries in the diet. In winter its diet includes seeds and suet.

* Call is the familiar “chick-a dee dee dee,” often simplified to wheezy “dee dee dee,” also two clear whistled notes descending in pitch.

* Often seen feeding upside down on branches.
