Mule Deer

Odocoileus hemionus

* Mule deer are browsers, feeding primarily on shrubs and other woody material.

* Common throughout state.

* Spend summer high in mountains, winters on foothills. Loss of winter habitat is especially devastating to herd.

* There appear to be at least two resident herds within the city of Draper itself, one west of I-80 in the Jordan River Park and at least one east of I-80 along the foothills.

* Hunting is not permitted within the Draper City limits.
