Mephitis mephitis

* Prefer open areas, especially grasslands, meadows, ditches and canal banks that pass through urban areas.

* Active year-round, nocturnal, solitary. The stench of their odor certifies their presence in and around Draper City.

* They are a major carrier of the rabies virus.

* Opportunistic feeders, consuming small vertebrate animals, insects, plant matter, eggs, and carrion.
