Lazuli Bunting
  Passerina amoena

* Lazuli rhymes with casually.

* Prefers arid brushy canyons.

* Song is one of the most commonly heard in early summer on the foothills. Each adult male bird has its own unique variation to the song. The ending phrase of those in Corner Canyon usually descend in pitch at the end.

* The male Lazuli Bunting is a strikingly beautiful bird. Both female and male are pictured to the left.
